apple shortcut :: 「 insert date 」
This shortcut uses native on-device time service and is able to put current date in required format into your clipboard or in the document you are currently processing.
EXTRA SERVICES OR APPS:
None
USAGE:
- on MacOS you can call context menu in any document and select 「 insert date 」 from the service menu, select format and the date will be placed in the document you are currently editing.
- on iPhone/iPad you can select any text in the document you are currently editing, tap “share” and tap on 「 insert date 」. Choose the format and click done, the date will be in your clipboard. Your selected text WON’T be replaced, unless you paste the date from the clipboard while having the selection.
- alternatively on iPhone/iPad you can start the shortcut by any means you want (e.g. from the Shortcuts app, or by asking Siri), select format and the date will be placed in your clipboard. You can paste it wherever.
DATE FORMATS:
Shortcut features most common date formats, but if you find this menu confusing - feel free to remove those which you never use. To do this:
1. select date format in “Choose from menu with” block
2. tap on “-“ below
3. agree to remove actions
If you want to modify the format of the date, you will need to tinker with the formatting in the blocks. You can buy extended version and i can help you set it up, if you want.
